The United States Mixed Martial Arts Kick International Federation (UMMAF) is extremely proud to welcome Mr. Michael Cardoso to our organization as the Florida State Representative! Michael is a great local asset who has a fundamental desire to help support local promotions and athletes throughout the state. Michael will also be working hard towards opening doors for local officials and athletes to earn a chance to represent the USA on National and International events. Michael brings his knowledge and experience to help strengthen our team as we work together in our goal toward Olympic Recognition of Amateur MMA.

Michael Cardoso has distinguished himself in the industry and the martial arts community as an excellent referee, judge, instructor, leader, and competitor. He has brought over 25 years of experience to the arts of Karate, Judo, Japanese Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Michael respectfully holds a 3rd degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Black belts in Japanese Karate and Judo.

As an accomplished fighter, Michael has an extensive history in Mixed Martial Arts, Submission Grappling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu matches. As head instructor at Cardoso Jiu Jitsu since 2004, he is dedicated to developing and implementing instructional programs that enhance his students’ lives, both physically and mentally. Michael Cardoso has established his reputation outside the dojo, expediting seminars in tactical defense for local law enforcement, as well as community outreach seminars in women’s self-defense. Michael Cardoso has over 10 years’ experience in officiating Amateur and Pro MMA. As well as refereeing for grappling events such as North American Grappling Association, Newbreed and IBJJF.

The UMMAF team is thankful to have Michael on board to help support and raise recognition for UMMAF throughout FL, for the benefit of local athletes and promotions. UMMAF is a registered 501(c)3 not for profit organization sponsoring a host of programs dedicated to amateur martial arts. The organization was formulated exclusively for the establishment and development of general practices within amateur Mixed Martial Arts in the USA as the official governing body for MMA in the USA representing the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF). IMMAF is the only World governing body of MMA internationally acknowledged to develop the sport of MMA as a developing Olympic sport. The UMMAF is the only organization established, audited and approved by the IMMAF, to develop MMA athletes in the United States for recognition on the World stage in critically important National and International events which will qualify the sport for inclusion in the Sport Accord (now GAISF), which is the next step toward Olympic recognition.
