Regional Structure

The USA Mixed Martial Arts Federation, UMMAF, is a 501c3, non-profit organization and the official National Federation representing the USA as a member of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF). The IMMAF is the international governing body for MMA, a non-profit and democratic organization, founded from within the MMA community, for the MMA community.

Our stated ambition is that our USA Federation has been granted the right to govern and sanction MMA amateur and professional events in the USA. As such, the UMMAF works with State Athletic Boards to establish an infrastructure that will help promote and grow amateur MMA in the USA and leading to international competition. The State Athletic Commissions of the USA oversees and approves amateur and professional MMA events, and the UMMAF will cooperate with all applicable State Athletic offices welcoming all individuals and organizations to come together for one common cause. Internationally, the IMMAF is currently working on establishing national federations around the world, thus ensuring safe governance of both amateur and professional MMA in whatever form that suits each individual country.
