Information on the USFL National Team Tournament have been announced. The USFL is UMMAF’s youth affiliate organization responsible for the development of youth competition. The USFL Tournament is responsible for identifying members that will represent the USA at the IMMAF Cadet World Championships in Rome, Italy. More information below!

US National Championships & World Team Selection

Please register in the proper IMMAF age & weight category w/o weight cutting.

Athletes who are 17 years olds on April 25th but turn18 prior to Aug 6th may participate in the U.S. National Championships but not compete in the IMMAF World Championships.

World Championship Divisions are for ages 12-17.

All Participants must have an active USFL License to participate – Go to www.kidsmma.org for licensing. Volunteer coaches will be on-hand to assist non attached athletes.

COMPETION FEES:

Early Bird – $75 (ends 2/06/20)

Regular – $100 (2/7 – 3/31)

Late – $125 (after 3/31/20)

Spectators – $20

All brackets limited to 8 entries per age and weight – 1st come first serve

Free T-Shirt if registered by 3/30/20

Optional set of Blue & Red “USA” Rash guards for $50 (Must be ordered by TBA)

Optional USA Warm Up Suit for $40. Same style as 2019 but different material. Athletes and Coaches planning on attending World Championships must have a team warm up suit. Last years is OK. (Must be ordered by TBA)

ALL TOURNAMENT ENTRY FEE PROCEEDS WILL GO TO SUPPORT YOUTH ATHLETES WHO WILL REPRESENT THE UNITED STATES IN THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
COMPETITION FORMATS:

• Preliminary Tournament – (Two MMA Cage Set Up) Single Round Matches (3 minutes for ages 8-13yrs / 4 minutes for ages 14-17yrs)

• Finals – (Formal Single Cage Set Up) 3 Rounds X 2 Minute bouts for all divisions. (Contingent that there are fewer than 45 finals bouts, otherwise 2 rd. finals)

Athletes may compete have a maximum of 5 rounds/ periods per day.
BRACKETING:

• Double elimination w/ consolation bracket for 3rd place (4 or more entries)

• Round Robin- 1 athlete receives a bye & fights loser of 1st round for advancement to finals (3 entries)

• Single Bout of 3 rounds –Both athletes go straight to finals.

• Uncontested Champions (Single Athlete Divisions) will have the option to move up in weight or age to participate in a 2nd category. (Must be within USFL age and weight parameters)
WEIGH IN / CHECK IN/ GEAR INSPECTION/ PRE-BOUT MEDICAL SCREENINGS:

• Optional Night Prior/Early: Friday April 24th 7 – 9 PM – Location TBA

• Regular Check in: Saturday April 25th 8 – 9 AM – At Venue

Be prepared for additional Weigh in and Medical Screening prior to finals on April 26

Eligibility for Team USA – 2020 IMMAF Youth World MMA Championships:

Tentatively Scheduled for Aug 6-8, Rome, Italy.

• Athletes who compete in the U.S. National Qualifiers in the 12-13, 14-15 and 16-17 yrs. age groups qualify for the U.S. World Team and IMMAF World Championships. Athletes ages under 12 yrs. may compete for a National Title but cannot attend the IMMAF World Championships.

• IMMAF will accept TWO athletes per category per country for the World Championships.

• The two highest placing athletes have first right of refusal for U.S. age and weight team positions.

• All athletes and coaches must pay the $35 UMMAF membership fee to participate in the world championships.

• Coaches must be actively licensed under the USFL and UMMAF and responsible for their own IMMAF competition fee of 100 euros.

• USFL will help supplement athletes with their IMMAF registration fee of 200 euros. The actual amount of supplement will depend on fundraising efforts.

• Proof of United States Passport and airfare must be provided by TBA to secure spot on U.S. Team.

• Athletes need to purchase emergency medical insurance for time in Italy.
